TransNusa has announced it will launch a new route from Denpasar (Bali) to Guangzhou, China, with connecting services to Perth, Australia.

The Indonesian carrier announced the new service between Denpasar and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport will start on April 13 with four weekly flights (Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday). Return flights will depart and arrive the following day. Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats will be used on the new route.

In addition, TransNusa aims to also boost Australia-China connecting traffic with connections from Guangzhou to Perth via Denpasar with its new thrice-weekly service between Denpasar and Perth starting March 20. The airline plans to increase its flights on the Denpasar-Perth route to four-times weekly from June 1.

According to TransNusa CEO Bernard Francis, there will be three connecting flights from Guangzhou to Perth from April 13 to May 21, while there will be two connecting flights via Bali to Guangzhou. Francis stated its connecting services between Guangzhou and Perth via Denpasar will be the fastest between the two cities.

"With the launch of our new Bali-Guangzhou route, our passengers can now enjoy one of the fastest scheduled connecting flights to either Guangzhou or Perth via Bali, with a transit duration of either 1 hour and 30 minutes or 2 hours and 35 minutes, depending on the day and time of the scheduled flights, “ said Francis.

From Perth, China Southern has operated seasonal flights to Guangzhou.

The new Denpasar-Guangzhou route will add to TransNusa's services to the southern Chinese city, where it currently operates flights to Guangzhou from the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta and Manado. In addition, the airline also operates flights to Fuzhou from Manado.

Between Denpasar and Guangzhou, Guangzhou-based China Southern currently operates two daily flights on the route.
